Things I know

Love is a fabulous emotion, perfectly wonderful.

It is just a feeling, if there is no commitment.

Commitment is how you fulfill a relationship, not love. A parent who loves but neglects a child gets - deserves - no slack. A person who loves another but cannot commit - well, that person cannot expect that "relationship" to last, whether that is a marriage or a friendship or something in between. I mean effort, paying attention, listening and hearing, asking, working, trying, trusting, being worthy of trust.

On the distinction between "a marriage or a friendship," the two relationships are not mutually exclusive.  The best marriage (or romantic relationship) is one in which love, lust, friendship, trust, and the practical aspects are all present.  A married couple who are not friends, best friends, merely have a business arrangement.
